Given the impact of COVID-19, this training will not occur as originally planned. COVID-19 has created an environment in which crisis communication is very much a reality. Given the immediacy, a two-hour webinar will be provided on April 16 and the original training rescheduled to occur as a pre-conference event at the 2020 IACP Vision for the Future Conference on Tuesday, August 25, 2020.

Training Description: In the midst of this unprecedented time, organizations must prepare for communication with internal and external stakeholders. Well written communication is essential for maintaining stakeholder confidence. Learn how to prepare your organization’s written communication; talking points to delivering a very specific message, who should speak on behalf of your organization and the reason, along with how to deliver your message during these challenging times.
Attendees are encouraged to submit their crisis communication questions prior to the event. These questions will not only be responded to during the training but will help shape the training outcomes. An organization’s crisis can occur at lightning speed in today’s multi-channel media environment. When it does, it can be a period of internal chaos, sleepless nights, and finger-pointing. Today’s leaders understand that they can no longer sit back and assess the situation. Being prepared is essential. Anticipation, planning, and practice can mean the difference between a situation with short-term impact and a public relations disaster with lasting repercussions. The IACP workshop will demonstrate how effective crisis communication contributes to maintaining trust, inspiring consumer confidence and preserving reputation.
Workshop content will include:

- Establishing an internal team

About the Presenter:
Jeanne founded Perception INK in 2007 as a public relations, executive visibility and corporate marketing consultancy. Previously, Jeanne was Executive Vice President and Director of Public Relations at the Minneapolis advertising firm Preston Kelly. Prior, Jeanne held the position of Senior Vice President at the Minneapolis office of international public relations firm Weber Shandwick. Earlier years in management were spent in Community Relations and Advertising at the Star Tribune.
Jeanne’s clients have ranged from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies. She has shared client stories across multiple platforms and through local, regional and national media placements that have included Good Morning America, the TODAY show, CBS Evening News, NBC Nightly News, the New York Times and USA Today. She has worked with clients on crisis and reputation management issues, crisis preparation and planning, messaging, media management, and spokesperson training.
Jeanne is a past president of the Minnesota Advertising Federation and a recipient of its Paul Foss Award for contributions to the industry and community. Pro bono clients currently include Crescent Cove, the Midwest’s first independent pediatric hospice and respite home.
