Description: hcbstraining250_1793481.pngHigh-quality documentation plays an important role in making sure organizations provide high-quality services and supports and stay financially strong. This training focuses on teaching how to write a strong documentation note. It defines the role of the plan writer, core documentation elements, and how to best engage staff in this writing process. Specifically, the training identifies required pieces of documentation along with how to assist DSPs in including all the elements concisely. Participants will leave understanding Iowa's rules for Medicaid documentation, the importance of an individual service plan in guiding documentation, and the core elements required for good documentation, and how participants can apply this in their organizations.

About Presenter, April Metzger: 

With over 27 years of experience in Human Services, April Metzger is an expert in her field. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse, with an undergraduate in Psychology and then went on to obtain her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Dayton in Ohio.

AprilMetzger_1814765.pngFor the last 23 years, Ms. Metzger has worked at Hope Haven, a Christian nonprofit agency in Rock Valley, Iowa. She has served as Program Manager, After-School Liason, Manager of Mental Health Services, and is currently the Director of Quality Improvement. As part of her current role, she is the administrator for their EHR system and trains staff on rules and regulations, which includes how to best document services.

When Ms. Metzger is not at work, you can find her with her husband or attending one of her four children's activities. In their house, the season is not told by the weather, but rather the shape or color of the ball being thrown or dribbled around. 

Time: 1:00 - 3:00 pm (With 10 Minute Break)
