Technical Assistance Fall 2020 Regional Training

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR FALL 2020 REGIONAL TRAINING REGISTRANTS

This regional training location is currently being offered virtually. IACP is asking registrants to register for their "normal" regional training site. This is being done to avoid "overcrowding" during the sessions. Due to the interactive nature of the regional training series the learning is more effective when learners are dispersed. Although we know not everyone will be able to register at their typical location we appreciate your anticipated cooperation.

  • 8:30 - 11:00 AM - Ethics in the Provision of Community-Based Services
    • The provision of community-based services can create challenging and confusing moments for service providers. Obligations to the persons served, families, funders and organizations can often present situations in which no right or wrong is entirely clear. These ethical situations are often more frequent than the clear-cut situations and can hinder the provision of high-quality services. This presentation will help to identify key considerations and models for discussing and examining these situations and coming to an ethical resolution.
  • 11:00 - 11:15 AM Break
  • 11:15 - 11:45AM HCBS Final Rule Updates
    • Iowa's Final Statewide Transition Plan was submitted to CMS in 2019. This presentation will highlight key areas and the systemic process of assessment going forward. Changes to the timeline and implications of those changes will be discussed.
  • 11:45 AM - 12:30 PM Lunch
  • 12:30 - 2:15 PM Quality Improvement in HCBS Services: Discovery, Remediation and Improvement
    • This presentation will familiarize participants with the Iowa HCBS Quality Assurance expectations. Participants will be able to identify the applicable rules and gain knowledge about what is required of HCBS service providers. Examples will be used to illustrate ways to satisfy the requirements. Key areas in which organizations struggle to meet these expectations will be reviewed and discussed along with commonly cited areas in which corrective action plans are issued. Resources will be shared, and examples will be presented.

Cost: $10

*Registration Fees are non-refundable.  If schedules prevent the original registrant from attending, it is permissible to send someone in their place.  Please contact IACP should you need to switch attendees.
