Clarification
Between Member and Associate Member:
Criteria for Membership -
Any organization that provides community-based services designed
to maximize the independence of individuals with mental illness and mental
disabilities within the State of Iowa and whose objectives are not in conflict
with the objectives of this Association may be considered for membership. Such
organizations may become a member of this Association upon approval by the Board
of Directors, and upon submission of appropriate membership dues. State-operated
programs shall not be considered eligible for membership. The Board of Directors
of the Association may adopt additional criteria for admission to, maintenance
of, or revocation of Agency and Associate memberships.
Classes of Membership - Membership in this
Association shall be classified to include the following:
Agency Members are
any organization that provides community- based services designed to maximize
the independence of individuals with mental illness and mental disabilities
within the State of Iowa. There shall be three classes of agency membership:
Full
Operation Organization. This describes an organization where the
entire operation provides services consistent with IACP’s mission and goals.
Partial
Operation Organization. This describes an organization that is
part of a larger corporate entity. Dues are based on all operations,
locations or branches located in the State of Iowa that meet the criteria
for Association membership.
Multiple
Location Organizations. This describes an organization which
operates programs in multiple locations. Dues are based on all operations,
locations or branches located in the State of Iowa that meet the criteria
for Association membership.
Associate Members are
individuals interested and desirous of supporting the work and effort of this
Association, and whose objectives are not in conflict with the objectives of
this Association. This class of membership is not available to individuals
within an organization eligible for agency membership unless the organization is
a member of this Association. Such individuals may become a member of this
Association upon approval by the Board of Directors, and upon submission of
appropriate membership dues. There are two classes of associate
membership:
Business
class. Specialists, instructors, administrators, state and
national organizations, societies, educational or governmental agencies,
other such public or private entities,
Individual class. Parents, consumers, advocates, those to whom
honorary membership is granted.
Rights and Duties of Membership -
Agency members
shall be entitled to:

One (1) vote
in the election for each of the Directors-at-Large of the Board of
Directors.

One (1) vote
in the Advisory Committee(s) in which the agency participates.

One (1) vote
in the election of a chairperson of the Advisory Committee(s) in which
the agency participates.

One (1) vote
in matters of business coming before the Association membership at any
duly called meeting of the Association membership, or through mail
ballot.

Membership
rates for conferences and conventions.
Associate Membership
privileges and restrictions shall include:

opportunity to serve on commissioned committees and participate, without
voting privileges, in annual or special membership meetings of the
Association.

Associate
Members may not hold office.
